What to Prepare
Prospective students should prepare:
- One 1980’s pop/rock song, no more than one minute in length.
- One musical theatre song of your choice which best displays vocal range and personality, no more than one minute in length.
- One monologue of choice (should contrast the songs in character).
You will be allotted a total of 3 minutes for your entire audition with a 15 second grace period. Time will begin from the first word or note to the last (this includes the time between the pieces). Please be sure you’ve timed your audition package. You do not need to fill the entire time. 30 seconds of each piece is perfectly acceptable. Monologue and songs must be memorized.
A pianist will be provided for the audition. Students should bring sheet music with piano accompaniment. Students may also sing to a karaoke track or other instrumental recording. CD player and auxiliary input will be provided. Students may not sing acapella (without music) or with a vocal track.
Students will also be taught a short dance combination. Please bring a change of clothes appropriate for dancing – form-fitting solid colored clothing that is flexible and allows for movement, soft jazz shoes or ballet shoes, no dangling earrings or bracelets, ladies should have hair pulled back and out of their face.
Advanced registration is required to audition. CLICK HERE TO REGISTER
We understand the audition dates align with some student’s spring break. To accommodate this, we will be accepting video auditions. To submit a video audition, simply follow the audition registration link (provided February 23, 2018), and select “video audition.” You will be asked to provide up to 4 video links (such as a private YouTube video). The dance routine need not exceed 60 seconds. You may use choreography from a previous show or dance class, or choreograph your own routine. Video audition submission is due by March 22, 2018.
CCT will offer audition workshops to help you prepare for your audition. REGISTER HERE
Attendance at all classes and rehearsals is crucial. We understand illness and emergencies may happen and will accommodate, however planned conflicts should be limited. Preference will be given to students without conflicts.
Financial Assistance and Payment Plans
Financial assistance is available. Applications must be submitted at the time of audition. When registering for an audition time, you will be asked if you need an application which will then be sent to you via email. Accepted students will have the opportunity to enroll in a payment plan.
