Attendance
Each class relies on 100% attendance. We ask that parents/guardians do everything they can to ensure their children are able to attend all classes. Should absence need to occur, please notify CCT’s education office via phone or email.

Cancellation
If you cancel your registration at least five business days before the class begins, you will be issued an account credit (less a $25 cancelation fee) which can be used for a future class. Account credits may not be used toward the purchase of show tickets. If you cancel your registration with less than five business days’ notice, no refund will be given. CCT reserves the right to cancel classes with low enrollment. If we cancel a class, you will receive a full refund.

Class Levels
Classes are offered for students at the discovery/beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. Levels are provided to better inform families of the skills and experience instructors will expect students to already have. Pace of instruction, material, and skills presented, and intensity of training will vary based on the level of each course. Enrollment in intermediate and advanced courses is ultimately at the discretion of CCT, should a student not meet the level of experience necessary to fully participate in the class. Prerequisites are listed for intermediate and advanced classes to help students and their parents/guardians determine which class is right for them, and we are happy to help you decide! Please contact our Education Department with any questions regarding classes, levels, or prerequisites.

Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act Compliance
We are in compliance with the requirements of COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act); we do not collect any information from anyone under 13 years of age less through parental consent.

Dress Code
For the best class experience, students are encouraged to wear:
• Clothing that allows for movement
o Skirts/dresses with leggings or shorts underneath
o Comfortable pants/shorts
• Socks or dance shoes in CCT studios
o Our studios all have marley dance floors and street shoes are not permitted
• Close-toed shoes in satellite locations
o Sneakers or dance shoes preferred
• Some classes may require specific clothing; families will be informed of any requirements prior to the first class

Drop Off and Pick Up
For the safety of our students, parents/guardians are asked to drop off and pick up students by coming into the building and signing their student in and out. Parents/Guardians will also need to complete a release form to list people authorized to drop off and pick up each student. There are options to note if your child is at least 8 years old and able to sign themselves out to meet their adult in our parking lot, or if they are at least 13 years old and able to sign themselves out to leave alone. You can find the form on our website here and bring to the first day of class; forms will also be provided on the first day of each class.

Students must be picked up within 15 minutes of the class ending. After that time, a $10 late fee will be assessed for each subsequent 5 minute period.

Extreme Weather
Classes are only canceled in the event of a level 3 Snow Emergency in Franklin County, or if the teaching artist is unable to safely get to the class location. If a class is canceled due to inclement weather, registered students’ families will be notified by email no less than 90 minutes prior to class time. No refunds or rescheduled class time will occur due to weather cancellations. Follow CCT on social media for the most up-to-date information about any changes to our hours of operation.

Medical Authorization
All students must have on-file a current emergency medical authorization form. Forms can be found on our website here and will also be provided on the first day of each class.

Check your spam or junk folders and add EducationDept@ColumbusChildrensTheatre.org to your list of approved contacts.

Please register in advance as classes fill quickly! Full payment is required at the time of registration. We are unable to accept students who have not registered in advance.

Due to the high volume of enrollments, registration cannot be taken by phone or mail, with the exception of reduced-tuition spots.

Reduced-Tuition
Email or call the Education Office to enquire about the limited number of $20 reduced-tuition spots reserved for each class. A parent/guardian’s photo ID and proof of participation in WIC, Ohio Directions, or Ohio Medicaid will be required to register for one of these spots; registration for these spaces is not available online.

Due to the generosity of CCT donors, financial assistance may also be available to students who do not qualify for reduced-tuition spots. The financial assistance request form can be found here.

Student Conduct & Behavior Management
Behavior management techniques utilized at CCT are intended to help a child develop discipline, self-control, self-respect, and responsibility while maintaining a safe and structured environment for all. Classroom rules and expectations will be discussed, posted, and consistently referred to in class in various ways to ensure all students understand expectations for behavior.

Our Teaching Artists are in partnership with students’ families to ensure students have a safe and positive learning experience at CCT and with their peers; communication is key to this partnership. We encourage families to share any information with our team that will help us better serve your children in the classroom, and will likewise share information about students’ successes and challenges throughout the class session.

CCT has zero tolerance for bullying or other dangerous behavior. While many behavior incidents are easily managed at the moment with positive techniques such as redirection or a quick discussion with the student, more severe incidents will require immediate parent/guardian notification. In the event of such an occurrence, CCT and the student’s parent/guardian will work to find a mutually agreed upon action. If the student returns to the class and another occurrence of bullying/dangerous behavior occurs, the student will be dismissed from the class without refund. CCT reserves the right to dismiss a student from class at any time if their behavior poses a threat to themselves or others.

CCT is a safe space; students are expected to help us foster a positive environment for all to learn, imagine, grow, and create!

Technology Use in Class
Students are asked to refrain from using personal technology during classes, unless it is being used for instruction, performance, or assistive purposes. If you need to contact your child during a class please call our front desk; our Customer Service Associates will be happy to connect you with your student

Use of Name and Likeness
CCT shall have the right to use the name, photograph, video, voice, or other likeness of all students; and to exhibit the same through any medium whatsoever during the period of this agreement and at any time in the future for advertising, promotional, artistic, or commercial purposes. All such reproductions shall be the exclusive property of CCT

Wellington Engagement Index
CCT is the first non-school to utilize the Wellington Engagement Index (WEI), which allows students to self-identify how engaged they are in our classes. CCT teaching artists and education staff will facilitate the completion of the WEI during our class sessions. CCT uses information collected through the WEI to ensure our programming meets the needs and interests of students, and that students are being appropriately challenged in each class. The WEI is a developmental tool which allows CCT to constantly evaluate how we are serving our students, by directly receiving the input of children in our classes!
